“Ferrari President Slams Hamilton and Leclerc After Sao Paulo F1 Disappointment”

Published:

Ferrari’s president, John Elkann, has criticized Formula 1 drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc after a disappointing Sao Paulo Grand Prix. Elkann advised them to focus more on driving and less on talking following both drivers retiring without scoring any points due to separate incidents during the race.

On the same day, Ferrari’s World Endurance Championship team triumphed at the Eight Hours of Bahrain. The driver trio of Alessandro Pier Guidi, Antonio Giovinazzi, and James Calado secured the drivers’ title, with Ferrari dominating the manufacturers’ standings by 74 points.

Despite success in other racing series, Ferrari has faced challenges in Formula 1 this season. Hamilton, struggling to adapt, has had limited successes apart from a Sprint race win in March. Leclerc, despite showing promise, has failed to secure a Grand Prix victory this year.

In response to Ferrari’s lack of competitiveness in Formula 1, Elkann, who was in Bahrain during the Grand Prix, criticized the drivers for not delivering results. He emphasized the importance of unity within the team and urged the drivers to prioritize driving over talking.

Currently placed fourth in the constructors’ championship with three races remaining, Ferrari is yet to claim a Grand Prix victory in 2025, falling behind Mercedes and Red Bull in recent weeks.

Hamilton expressed disappointment after finishing 13th in Sao Paulo, describing the situation as challenging but vowed to come back stronger in the next race. Leclerc acknowledged the team’s struggle for the second spot in the constructors’ championship and highlighted the team’s effort in turning the situation around.
