“European Airports Disrupted by Drone Activity”

Published:

A European airport has halted its operations due to unidentified drone activity in the vicinity, marking the third such occurrence within a span of only two days.

Vilnius Airport in Lithuania has confirmed that airspace restrictions were imposed after a drone was sighted within the airport’s area, according to a spokesperson.

Yesterday, two major international airports in Belgium, including Brussels Airport, were compelled to cease operations because of drone sightings. Brussels Airport released a statement indicating the suspension of all departing and arriving flights until the drone situation is resolved.

Subsequent updates mentioned that the disruption caused delays, flight cancellations, and could potentially affect flight schedules on Wednesday morning.

Authorities also temporarily suspended air traffic at Charleroi, Brussels’ second-largest airport, as a precautionary measure. Initially, flights were redirected to Liege airport; however, Liege airport was subsequently closed due to suspected drone activity.
