A brutal drug cartel is compelling fresh members to consume human flesh and conduct decapitations at its well-known “terror schools.”
The Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) has rapidly expanded throughout Mexico, primarily operating in the country’s western regions. Engaging in extreme violence, CJNG members carry out ruthless acts to intimidate their adversaries. The cartel has taken down an army helicopter using a rocket-propelled grenade, eliminated hundreds of government officials, and publicly displayed the bodies of victims on bridges to instill fear in rivals. CJNG recruits undergo training in remote rural areas, learning combat strategies and firearms handling.
During a three to four-month period, recruits are also introduced to cannibalism. An anonymous source revealed that new members are initially taught how to sever their victims’ fingers and toes, a preferred torture method of the cartel. Recruits are then required to choose a body part to consume in front of their superiors, facing punishment if they react negatively.
Upon proving their allegiance, members progress to learning how to dismember entire bodies. One man, known only as Francisco, shared his experience of being coerced into a CJNG training camp after being promised a security job. He recounted being forced to sever a man’s hand and consume part of the corpse under threat. Another survivor from a training camp disclosed that even the most hesitant recruit in his cohort was instructed to behead a rival and crush his head with a stone. In a disturbing incident, an instructor made a recruit eat a regurgitated body part after the recruit vomited.
Recently, shocking footage emerged showing CJNG members extracting the hearts of rival gang members and consuming them, as a means of mocking their adversaries. These brutal tactics not only desensitize new recruits but also instill fear in local communities, consolidating the cartel’s control over the drug trade.
Amid the pandemic, three individuals, including a pregnant woman, were found in critical condition with severed hands after being accused of theft by CJNG. Their mutilated bodies were discovered in a truck in Guanajuato, bearing a message warning against theft. Additionally, the cartel resorts to dissolving victims in acid baths to hide evidence of their crimes. In a high-profile case from 2018, a Mexican rapper admitted to dissolving the bodies of three missing film students in acid, as he was paid by CJNG to carry out the gruesome act.
