“Mistaken Release: Sex Offender Escapes High-Security Prison”

Published:

An individual identified as Brahim Kaddour-Cherif, a sex offender, was mistakenly released from HMP Wandsworth, a high-security prison in London. Kaddour-Cherif, aged 24, was serving a sentence for trespass with intent to steal but had previous convictions for sexual offenses. The Metropolitan Police, revealing his Algerian descent, is conducting urgent investigations to locate and return him to custody.

Recently, another incident involved Hadush Kebatu, a convicted sex offender released in error from HMP Chelmsford in Essex. Kebatu, an Ethiopian national, spent three days at large before being apprehended in a London park. He was serving a 12-month sentence for sexual assaults in Essex.

In response to these incidents, Labour MP Dr. Rosena Allin-Khan expressed shock and concern over the release of these offenders. Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed Kebatu’s deportation and emphasized the need to prevent such occurrences.

This situation follows a past incident involving prisoner Daniel Khalife, who escaped from HMP Wandsworth in 2023, triggering a manhunt. David Lammy criticized the recent release of a foreign criminal, calling for thorough investigations to address system failures and enhance public safety.
