Greene King is offering complimentary pints of Guinness during the start of the Six Nations rugby tournament this weekend. To claim your free pint, simply reserve a table for any Six Nations game on February 7 through the Greene King website and present your booking confirmation at the bar.
This promotion is valid at all Greene King sports pubs, including Flaming Grill, Hungry Horse, and Belhaven, as part of the new Fans Reunited initiative featuring Rugby World Cup champions Martin Johnson and Jason Robinson.
Zoe Bowley, Managing Director of Greene King pubs, stated, “Fans Reunited celebrates the unique role of sports and the pub environment in bringing people together. By launching this offer alongside the Guinness Six Nations and providing fans with a complimentary pint, we aim to inspire moments where old acquaintances reconnect over a drink.”
Rugby legend Martin Johnson emphasized the power of rugby in fostering lasting friendships and the sense of community, echoing the spirit of the Fans Reunited campaign. The initiative coincides with the Treasury’s announcement of a 15% reduction in business rates for pubs and music venues starting in April as part of a significant support package.
Treasury minister Dan Tomlinson mentioned that pubs, on average, will benefit from a £1,650 reduction in business rates next year. This relief aims to alleviate financial pressures on pubs and music venues, acknowledging their importance in the community.
Emma McClarkin, chief executive of the BBPA, expressed gratitude for the government’s responsiveness to the concerns of publicans and the public, emphasizing that the pub-specific assistance will help mitigate financial challenges and preserve the existence of many establishments.
