“Child Discovers Human Bones on UK Beach”

Published:

A young child made a startling discovery when he unearthed human bones while playing on a UK beach. The incident triggered a significant police response, with a section of Saunton Sands beach cordoned off for investigation. The bones were carefully collected for forensic analysis after being found by little Lake, whose mother, Gabrielle Prentice, recounted the unexpected find.

Gabrielle shared that Lake stumbled upon the bones while innocently digging in the sand during a family outing. Initially mistaking them for driftwood, they soon suspected they might be animal bones. Seeking confirmation, they consulted with Gabrielle’s sister, a trainee orthodontist, who, along with colleagues, believed the bones and teeth to be human.

Following this revelation, the family promptly contacted the authorities, leading to a swift response from law enforcement. The police secured the bones, secured the area, and expressed gratitude for the reporting. Gabrielle expressed shock at the discovery, particularly given Lake’s age, emphasizing the importance of handing over the bones to the police immediately.

The next day, Gabrielle revisited the site to provide additional details to the police and retrieve Lake’s beach bucket, which he was more concerned about than the bones. She mentioned that Lake, an avid fan of pirate games, now felt like a true pirate after the unexpected find. The family hoped for a benign explanation behind the bones, speculating that they were of considerable age and expressing a desire for identification without sinister implications.

Devon and Cornwall Police later confirmed the removal of the beach cordon and the dispatch of the bones for forensic examination. A police spokesperson disclosed that investigations were ongoing to determine the age of the bones through forensic procedures, under the supervision of forensic services and the local CID Department.
