“Pro Golfer Tyrrell Hatton’s Weight Gain Humor on Course”

Published:

Pro Golfer Tyrrell Hatton recently shared a humorous anecdote about outscoring Rory McIlroy at the Dubai Desert Classic. Hatton jokingly attributed his success to indulging in wine and Guinness over the Christmas period, leading to a weight gain of one stone. Despite feeling like he was “turning like the Titanic” during his initial round at the tournament, Hatton managed to maintain his performance.

During a round of golf with McIlroy, Hatton revealed that their conversation revolved around their holiday festivities, particularly the quality of wine they enjoyed. Hatton, ranked No. 21 globally, humorously recounted McIlroy’s shock upon learning about his weight gain post-Christmas.

Reflecting on his festive season, Hatton admitted to minimal exercise and a significant amount of drinking, including savoring Guinness from a tap in his home. While he acknowledged the need to shed some weight post-holidays, he jokingly mentioned participating in “damp January” instead of a strict dry January regimen.

Known for his affinity for Guinness, Hatton shared past experiences of enjoying a few drinks during his golf challenges. Despite his lack of conditioning due to the upcoming LIV Golf tour, Hatton managed a commendable performance with four birdies and two bogeys in adverse weather conditions.

While discussing golf fines with fellow players McIlroy and Fleetwood, Hatton emphasized focusing on their game rather than the external distractions. The trio navigated the challenges of the tournament without dwelling on the fines imposed by the DP World Tour.

Additionally, Polish golfer Adrian Meronk expressed discontent over the fines imposed on players participating in conflicting tours. Meronk highlighted the need for a mutual agreement between different golf tours to address the ongoing issue of fines.

Overall, Hatton’s jovial demeanor and dedication to improving his performance on the golf course were evident, despite the weight gain and challenges he faced during the Dubai Desert Classic.
