A father claimed he experienced a sudden coughing fit and lost consciousness, resulting in him driving his three children into a dam on Father’s Day, ultimately saving himself. Robert Farquharson was convicted of three counts of murder for deliberately seeking revenge against his ex-wife by killing his sons, Jai, Tyler, and Bailey in 2005. Cindy Gambino, the boys’ mother, left the Australian court following the retrial, knowing Farquharson would serve three life sentences. Farquharson crashed his car into a dam near Winchelsea, with the bodies of his sons found inside the car with their seatbelts undone. Farquharson, who claimed he passed out due to a coughing fit, believed he had crashed into a ditch initially.
Farquharson emerged unharmed from the incident and explained that he attempted to reach his boys before seeking help. He expressed his desire to inform his ex-wife about the accident, emphasizing that she is the mother of his children.
