Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen expressed frustration over receiving unsolicited beauty advice. After returning from a trip to Ukraine, where she faced air raid sirens amid the ongoing conflict, Frederiksen shared on Instagram that she received a message from a plastic surgeon offering to address a perceived flaw on her nose. She highlighted receiving numerous messages critiquing her appearance, including comments about her teeth, hair, and a supposed ‘wart’ on her nose, along with suggestions for Botox injections.
In response to the plastic surgeon’s offer, Frederiksen posted a screenshot without revealing the individual’s identity and stated, “I’m content with my body and do not require a male plastic surgeon’s input on it.” The Social Democrat, Denmark’s second female prime minister now serving her third term, is among Europe’s longest-tenured leaders, having led the country since mid-2019. Frederiksen has taken a firm stance against U.S. President Donald Trump’s interests in Greenland, a Danish territory, and continues to support Ukraine amid Russia’s aggressive actions.
Emphasizing her satisfaction with her body, particularly as she nears 50, Frederiksen urged people to engage in more meaningful conversations instead of focusing on her physical appearance. She described feeling indignant about the unsolicited beauty advice and extended empathy to others dealing with societal pressures regarding physical imperfections.
