A 16-year-old boy in Utah allegedly shot his 15-year-old girlfriend at close range, resulting in her death. Chanelle Alvarez was found dead in her bedroom after a family member heard the gunshot and saw the boy fleeing with a gun. The incident occurred in Ogden, near Salt Lake City, on October 18.

The boy, identified as Hezekiah Plummer, was later arrested in a neighboring county with cash and a small amount of marijuana. Police mentioned that he had discarded the firearm before being apprehended. Plummer mentioned a “robbery” to the family member and implicated another person in the incident.

Plummer faces charges of first-degree murder, obstruction of justice, and theft of a firearm. He will be tried as an adult for the offenses. A fundraising page has been set up to assist Alvarez’s family with funeral expenses, expressing grief over the tragic loss of the young girl.

Alvarez was remembered for her vibrant personality, infectious laughter, and warm smile. Her family emphasized that her death was a result of domestic violence, aiming to raise awareness and prevent similar tragedies. She was an active member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Ogden, where she was known for her compassion and zest for life.
