Police are currently investigating the possibility of an accomplice assisting Tyler Robinson, the suspected killer of Charlie Kirk. The FBI is examining new footage that allegedly captures the accused gunman discussing the shooting on a doorbell camera shortly after Kirk was fatally shot at a rally in Utah Valley University. This footage has raised concerns about whether Robinson, aged 22, had help in the murder or if someone else was aware of the crime but remained silent.
A family residing near the university provided the police with the footage and were subsequently interviewed by law enforcement officers. The video shows a man walking by the house and conversing on the phone about the shooting just minutes after it occurred.
Robinson was apprehended two days after the shooting incident that claimed the life of Kirk, a right-wing activist and ally of Donald Trump. Kirk was shot in the neck during a debate event at which hundreds were present. The 31-year-old father succumbed to his injuries shortly after being rushed to the hospital. Robinson’s father, reportedly a former law enforcement official, turned him in to authorities.
After contacting the police and facing his son, Matt, Robinson’s father, discovered his son’s admission to the killing. Robinson expressed reluctance to surrender and instead stated he would prefer to take his own life. Matt advised his son to speak with a youth minister, who also serves in the US Marshals Service, leading to contact with the FBI.
Governor Cox mentioned that Robinson had become more politically active recently and had discussed Kirk’s visit to Utah with family members. Cox stated that Robinson had expressed dislike towards Kirk’s views, describing him as spreading hate. The authorities found a gun nearby with inscriptions on the bullet casings, including messages like “Hey fascist! Catch!” and “if you read this you are gay lmao.”
Erika, Kirk’s grieving wife, shared how she consoled their daughter by telling her that “Daddy’s on a work trip with Jesus” following his tragic demise. Erika, in a FOX News live stream, expressed the difficulty of explaining the situation to a young child. The widow also posted tributes on Instagram, including a poignant image of her beside Kirk’s casket.
In a video message from the Oval Office, President Trump honored Kirk as a “martyr for truth and freedom.” He criticized the demonization of political opponents and attributed Kirk’s assassination to the rhetoric of the radical left.
State records indicate that Robinson’s parents, Matthew Carl Robinson and Amber Denise Robinson, are registered Republicans.
