Asda has introduced its inaugural fixed-price meal deal priced at £3.74, including a main, snack, and drink, marking a departure from its previous three-for-two offer at Asda Food to Go counters. Available to all customers without the need for loyalty cards, the meal deal offers savings of up to 50% compared to purchasing the items individually. It features a wide selection of products, from Asda classics like the Chicken and Bacon Sandwich to popular brands like Doritos and Coca Cola Zero.
The set price encompasses all items in the food to go section, with a choice of 132 mains, 336 snacks, and 222 drinks. In addition to larger Asda supermarkets, the meal deal is accessible at all 478 Asda Express convenience stores.
Amy Wotherspoon, Asda’s Food to Go Buyer, emphasized the inclusivity of the new £3.74 Meal Deal, stating that it is available to all customers without the need for an app or membership. Asda’s current best-selling main, the Cheese & Onion Sandwich at £1.42, sells over 50,000 units weekly.
In comparison, Tesco recently raised the price of its meal deal to £3.85, with the non-Clubcard rate at £4.25. The premium Tesco meal deal now costs £5.50 with a Clubcard and £6 without. Sainsbury’s upped its meal deal price to £3.95, while the premium option increased to £5.50. Morrison’s meal deal remains at £4 for a main, snack, and side.
Asda also plans to invest £180 million in refurbishing 180 in-store cafes, introducing digital ordering screens, table service, and a revamped menu featuring new dishes like smashed avocado on toast, katsu chicken curry, salads, wraps, nachos, loaded fries, and a variety of pizza options.
