Luke Littler has officially confirmed his participation in the upcoming PDC World Youth Championship. Known as ‘The Nuke,’ he emerged victorious at the World Grand Prix by defeating world No. 1 Luke Humphries with a commanding score of 6-1 in the final held in Leicester.
This win marked a significant milestone in Littler’s burgeoning career, adding another prestigious trophy to his collection. Despite his recent success, the 18-year-old is eager for more achievements and has announced his intention to compete in the World Youth Championship commencing in Wigan on Monday.
Having previously clinched the tournament title in 2023 by defeating Gian van Veen 6-4 in the final, Littler remains eligible to participate in the competition, which caters to players aged between 16 and 23 without any restrictions based on their rankings or past accomplishments in the PDC circuit.
In a recent statement to Sky Sports, Littler expressed his excitement about joining the World Youth Championship, emphasizing his goal to enjoy the experience and give his best performance. His decision to enter the competition has garnered attention from fans, with many expressing support for his participation.
Littler’s recent win at the World Grand Prix has positioned him closely behind Humphries in the PDC Order of Merit, with just a £70,000 difference between them. His rapid rise in the rankings indicates that he could potentially claim the world No. 1 spot in a relatively short period.
Reflecting on his recent triumph, Littler highlighted the challenges he faced during the competition and expressed his determination to continue working hard to exert pressure on his competitors. Despite his success, he remains focused on his ultimate goal of reaching the pinnacle of the sport.
