“Aldi Slashes Prices Across Various Product Categories”

Published:

Aldi has recently implemented price reductions on a wide range of products this January. The discounted items span across various categories such as fresh and frozen foods, pantry staples, household necessities, and personal care items.

Some of the notable price cuts at Aldi include red lentils now priced at 99p down from £1.39, porridge sachets lowered to 79p from 99p, and organic steel-cut oats reduced to £1.99 from £2.19. Additionally, beef and pork Bolognese mince now cost £4.49 compared to the previous price of £4.79, while pork and gammon joints are now £3.49, down from £3.99. Shoppers can also find discounts on products like sweetcorn, large free-range eggs, beef flank steak, and vegetable pieces and meatballs.

These price drops come as part of Aldi’s investment of over £22 million towards lowering prices. Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, emphasized the supermarket’s commitment to providing customers with the best value without compromising on quality, especially during times when shoppers are feeling the strain of grocery expenses.

In addition to the price reductions, Aldi has announced plans to open 40 new stores in the UK this year, investing £370 million in locations like Southam, Hastings, and Amersham. This expansion is part of Aldi’s broader £1.6 billion two-year investment strategy aimed at reaching a total of 1,500 UK stores.

Recent reports also reveal that Aldi was named the cheapest supermarket by Which? consumer rights magazine in 2025, outperforming competitors in price competitiveness throughout the year. In December, Aldi was the most economical choice for a list of 68 items, with an average cost of £123.60, closely followed by Lidl at £123.70. Comparatively, Asda and Tesco Clubcard members had higher average costs for the same items in December.

Aldi’s consistent efforts to provide affordable pricing options to customers, coupled with its strategic expansion plans, reinforce its position as a leading budget-friendly supermarket chain in the UK.
