Two individuals lost their lives instantly in a tragic accident that involved the SUV carrying Anthony Joshua, as reported by witnesses. The British boxer sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital in Nigeria. The incident occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway near Makun when Joshua’s SUV collided with a stationary truck.

Eyewitnesses stated that Joshua’s vehicle, followed by security personnel, veered off the road after a tire blowout, leading to the collision. Local authorities, including the Ogun state traffic compliance and enforcement agency, are investigating the crash that involved Joshua.

According to Adeniyi Orojo, an eyewitness, the convoy consisted of a Lexus SUV and a Pajero SUV. Joshua was seated behind the driver, accompanied by another person, with two other occupants in the Lexus. Despite rescue efforts by onlookers and the arrival of the Federal Road Safety Corps, two individuals in the Lexus lost their lives at the scene.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, confirmed that Joshua, who was in Nigeria for a visit, was safe and en route to the hospital. Joshua, born in England and known for his connection to Nigeria, recently defeated Jake Paul in a bout, leaving his opponent with significant injuries.

Looking ahead, Joshua hinted at significant plans for 2026 and reignited his rivalry with Tyson Fury in his post-fight statements. Expressing gratitude to his supporters, Joshua emphasized upcoming events in the New Year on his Instagram account.
