A female teacher who is married allegedly engaged in sexual activities with a teenage male student in the back of her vehicle and proceeded to send inappropriate texts to him after providing him with her personal phone number. The teacher, identified as Nicole Hernandez, also known as Nikki Baird, reportedly initiated a relationship with the 17-year-old student by touching him inappropriately and hugging him at school. Hernandez, a 30-year-old art teacher who had previously been recognized as ‘teacher of the month’, is said to have started a sexual relationship with the student in 2024.
The teacher allegedly sent the student messages expressing her desire to be with him, claiming that her marriage was facing difficulties. Hernandez allegedly isolated the student from his peers, meeting him outside of school and even obtaining parental approval for outings. During one such outing at an art center, there were claims of handholding and advances towards kissing from Hernandez.
Reports indicate that the student eventually agreed to engage in sexual activities with the teacher, despite feeling nervous and pressured. Hernandez allegedly reassured the student that they would not face consequences because he was graduating. Following graduation, the student cut off contact with Hernandez after realizing the inappropriate nature of their relationship and being manipulated by her. He also shared evidence, including photos and notes, with his family members and investigators.
Hernandez was arrested on May 22 and is scheduled to appear in court on December 19. If you have experienced sexual assault, support and resources are available through www.rapecrisis.org.uk or by calling the national helpline at 0808 802 9999.
