Miley, originally named Destiny Hope Cyrus, earned her moniker when her contagious smile led her father to affectionately call her “Smiley” before it evolved into “Miley.”
During Miley’s early years, Billy Ray Cyrus introduced her to country music legend Dolly Parton, whom he met while touring as her opening act. He requested Parton to serve as Miley’s godmother. Both Billy Ray and Miley have openly expressed their deep sorrow over Parton’s recent passing.
On the day of Parton’s demise, Billy Ray Cyrus, who turned 65, emphasized the importance of family and supported his daughter’s decision to perform under a single name.
