Following a shooting incident at a shopping center during Black Friday sales, three individuals have been swiftly transported to the hospital, causing chaos among shoppers seeking shelter.
A manhunt is currently underway for the perpetrator of the violent attack at the Westfield Valley Fair Mall in San Jose, California. Law enforcement officials have revealed that multiple individuals are receiving medical treatment for gunshot injuries.
The victims of the incident, a man, a woman, and a 16-year-old girl, sustained injuries during the event that took place at 5:40 pm local time the previous day, according to Sergeant Jorge Garibay of the San Jose Police Department.
Authorities have classified the occurrence as an “isolated incident,” with the San Jose Police Department confirming that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
Reports indicate that the shooting transpired after a dispute between the suspected shooter and the male victim, inadvertently involving the two female victims in the gunfire exchange, as detailed by KRON4.
A witness, Shawn Kulasingham, 23, recounted hearing a sudden loud noise followed by a chaotic rush of people. Describing the scene as a stampede, he mentioned feeling the building tremble under the commotion.
Kulasingham shared his experience of taking cover with family members in a secure store, Abercrombie & Fitch, where they sought refuge behind clothing racks and cabinets as panic ensued among other shoppers.
Approximately 20 customers were guided into storage spaces at Bloomingdales by store security, including Bilal Zuberi and his wife, who recounted the incident. Although Zuberi did not hear any gunshots, he described a state of general panic and an announcement instructing them to remain in place as the doors were secured.
