Anthony Joshua has returned to England following a tragic car accident that claimed the lives of two individuals. The renowned British heavyweight boxer arrived at London Stansted Airport on Friday night and was subsequently transported to his residence to continue his recovery, according to reports.
The funeral for Joshua’s friends, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, is scheduled to take place tomorrow at a mosque in London. Close relatives and friends have been invited to participate in a ‘janaza prayer service’ in honor of the deceased friends.
There is uncertainty surrounding Joshua’s attendance at the funeral, with concerns that his presence may attract unwanted attention. It has been revealed that Joshua narrowly escaped the fatal crash by changing seats just moments before the journey that tragically ended the lives of his friends.
The driver of the vehicle, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving. Kayode’s lawyer stated that the incident was an accident and his client claims that the brakes failed to function properly.
The car accident occurred when Kayode, driving Joshua and his friends in a black Lexus Jeep, collided with a stationary truck on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. Kayode has been discharged from the hospital and is awaiting trial after providing an official statement about the events leading up to the crash.
Joshua, after being released from the hospital, paid his respects to Ghami and Ayodele at a funeral home before they were repatriated to the United Kingdom. He also accompanied his mother to the funeral home to mourn the loss of his friends.
