“Britain Braces for First Snowfall of the Season”

Published:

The upcoming week is expected to bring the first snowfall of the season across Britain as an Arctic cold front approaches. Weather forecasts indicate that parts of Scotland could see up to 7cm of snow before the end of October, with snowfall likely in the Scottish Highlands from midday on Sunday, October 26. Additionally, northern England and Wales may experience some snow over the weekend as temperatures drop, with Scotland and north-western England facing sub-zero and single-digit temperatures, respectively.

The overall weather outlook suggests cold conditions across the country, except for the south coast where temperatures may reach highs of 11C. The Met Office’s long-range forecast from October 16 to October 25 anticipates predominantly dry weather with occasional rain and drizzle in certain areas. Cloud cover is expected to vary, with intermittent sunshine and some fog patches overnight.

Looking ahead, the forecast from October 26 to November 9 indicates changeable conditions with low-pressure systems prevailing, leading to showers, possible heavy rain, and occasional strong winds. However, there could be temporary drier intervals as well. In the medium term, Netweather TV predicts high-pressure dominance over England in the coming days, resulting in mostly dry and settled conditions with the potential for coastal showers due to a northeast flow.

As the week progresses, fog patches are expected to clear gradually, paving the way for a mostly dry day with sunny intervals and cloudier skies in the far north. High pressure will bring predominantly dry and cloudy weather, with occasional drizzle but pleasant warmth when sunlight breaks through.
