A British tourist met a tragic end following a cycling accident in Spain. The 57-year-old man, whose identity remains undisclosed, reportedly lost consciousness while biking on the N-340 road near Almuñecar in Granada. Almuñecar, a renowned tourist spot on the Costa Tropical, is popular for its beaches and natural attractions.
The incident occurred around 12:30 pm on Thursday, November 6. Despite immediate intervention by emergency responders, the cyclist could not be revived and was pronounced dead on-site after unsuccessful resuscitation attempts by local authorities.
The victim was staying at a hotel in Nerja, located 12 miles away in the province of Malaga. Witnesses mentioned that he fell from his bike, with indications pointing to a health issue while engaging in the sport.
Authorities, including the Civil Guard, are awaiting autopsy results to ascertain the cause of death, with no current suspicions of foul play. Reports indicate that the man was cycling with friends along the southern coast of Spain.
Efforts to revive him lasted approximately 30 minutes, involving the use of a defibrillator by the police. Almuñecar’s Security Councillor, Mari Carmen Martin Orce, expressed deep regret over the incident and extended condolences to the deceased man’s loved ones.
The tragedy occurred between Mateano Restaurant and Hotel California.
