Darts professional Dom Taylor has publicly apologized for deceitfully denying his drug use and shared his emotional journey, including the sorrowful loss of his daughter. The 27-year-old posted a heartfelt message on Facebook following his expulsion from the PDC World Championship.
The Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) disclosed that Taylor received a positive drug test result on December 14, leading to his suspension from the tournament. Despite his initial victory against Oskar Lukasiak, Taylor’s prize money was withheld due to his suspension, and his next opponent, Jonny Clayton, advanced to the third round without playing.
In his social media statement, Taylor expressed regret for his behavior, mentioning a previous failed drug test before the 2025 Ally Pally tournament. He admitted to misleading others, including himself, about his drug use.
Reflecting on his past struggles, Taylor attributed his actions to traumatic experiences during his teenage years, including the loss of his nan and other significant events that deeply affected him. He acknowledged letting down numerous people, especially his two daughters and two loyal supporters.
The anniversary of his daughter’s passing exacerbated Taylor’s mental health challenges, leading him to rely on substances to cope. He indicated plans to seek assistance after the holiday season to address his issues.
Taylor recognized the importance of seeking help and expressed remorse for his actions, emphasizing the need for support during challenging times.
