EDF has reintroduced its Sunday Saver challenge for February, offering customers a chance to earn free electricity on Sundays by reducing their electricity usage during peak hours from 4pm to 7pm on weekdays. Participants can receive between four and 16 hours of free electricity the following Sunday for their efforts. The Sunday Saver challenges will take place on February 15 and 22, as well as March 1 and 8, giving EDF customers the opportunity to save on their electricity bills.
Customers with smart meters can register for the program until February 1. EDF reports that more than 260,000 households have already benefited from over 17 million free hours of electricity through the Sunday Saver initiative, resulting in £5.2 million in bill credits for consumers.
During Christmas, over 100,000 customers enjoyed eight hours of free electricity, with EDF providing a total of 910,536 free hours to households. One satisfied participant, Natasha Shields from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, has accrued over 680 free hours by actively engaging in the Sunday Saver challenge. She expressed gratitude for the financial relief the program has offered, noting how it has brought her family closer by promoting activities that do not rely on electricity during peak hours.
Jon Perks, EDF’s Sales & Marketing Director, emphasized the program’s importance in helping customers manage their winter bills efficiently. He highlighted the benefits of tracking energy usage through EDF’s Energy Hub, enabling households to identify opportunities for electricity conservation and reduce their carbon footprint.
Customers can monitor their Sunday Saver progress through the Energy Hub on MyAccount, providing a personalized overview of their energy consumption patterns. Additionally, EDF is rewarding new and existing customers who sign up for any of its electric vehicle (EV) tariffs with a £50 credit. These EV tariffs, including GoElectric, Pod Point EV Exclusive, Evolve, and Pod Point Plug & Power, offer five hours of discounted electricity every night between 12am and 5am for both home and vehicle charging.
By prioritizing energy conservation and sustainability, EDF aims to support customers in managing their bills effectively while promoting eco-friendly practices.
