“Emma Raducanu Finishes WTA Season Ranked No. 29”

Published:

Emma Raducanu has achieved one of her seasonal targets as the WTA Tour season concludes. The British tennis prodigy ended her season prematurely in early October due to health issues.

Raducanu’s journey this season was a mix of highs and lows. While she secured notable wins at Wimbledon and the US Open, reclaiming her position as Britain’s top player, she faced fitness struggles towards the end. Her health concerns became apparent at the Ningbo Open, where she required medical assistance and lost her first-round match in a three-set battle.

After encountering these obstacles, Raducanu made the tough call to conclude her season ahead of schedule. Despite this decision, she confirmed that she will stick with coach Francisco Roig for the upcoming 2026 season. However, this choice jeopardized her goal of being seeded for the Australian Open.

Exiting her final two tournaments of the year ranked 29th, Raducanu’s aspiration of breaking into the top 32 was uncertain. Without participating in more matches to boost her ranking points, she had to anxiously wait to see if she could achieve this milestone.

As the season wraps up, Raducanu can finally relax, finishing the year as the world No. 29. This positioning sets her up for a seeded entry in Melbourne unless she faces tough challenges early on in the 2026 events.

Raducanu had set her sights on being seeded at the Australian Open back in early October, emphasizing the importance of a high ranking for better tournament placements. She also highlighted the significance of being a role model for aspiring young players, stressing the importance of maintaining a positive attitude on and off the court.

The 22-year-old is currently the only British player within the top 32 of the WTA rankings, with Aryna Sabalenka claiming the top spot this year. Sky has announced a discounted Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, offering more than 1,400 live matches across various leagues, including the Premier League and EFL for the upcoming season. Additionally, Sky will showcase a minimum of 215 live Premier League games, an increase from the previous season.
