Two children in Newcastle, Ronnie-Ray and True-Mary McGuinness, aged eight and seven, respectively, tragically lost both their parents over a span of three years. After their mother, Julieann McAllister, passed away from a brief illness on Christmas Eve in 2021, their father, Ronnie McGuinness, also died in August of the following year. Following these losses, the siblings, along with their older brother Jayden, were under the care of their 61-year-old grandfather.
In a series of devastating events, Jayden lost his life in a bike accident weeks after their father’s passing. Subsequently, their grandfather, Brian White, raised nearly £9,000 for the children’s future. However, this money, along with sentimental jewelry belonging to Ronnie and Jayden, was stolen during a burglary at White’s father’s residence where the funds were stored.
The culprits, a man in his 50s and a woman in her 30s, were arrested on suspicion of burglary but have been released on bail pending further investigation. Ronnie’s cousin, Debbie Bell, who had initially raised the funds for the children, has now started a new fundraising campaign to support them once more.
Debbie emphasized the immense challenges faced by the children, who have lost all their immediate family members at a young age. Brian, who had also lost his wife last year, has been a pillar of strength for the children. Despite the heartbreaking losses, the family remains resilient, and the community has rallied behind them in support.
The Northumbria Police are actively investigating the burglary incident, urging anyone with information to come forward. The stolen jewelry, which held sentimental value for the children, remains irreplaceable, adding to the family’s profound loss and grief.
