Newly released video footage captures the dramatic moment when a well-known gang leader fell to his death while attempting to evade police authorities.
Ender Alexis Rojas Montan, aged 31 and reportedly a key figure in the Alayon Dynasty faction of the Tren de Aragua gang, met a fatal end as he plunged eight stories from an apartment building during the pursuit.
On the 9th of October, Rojas Montan tried to flee a residence in Antioquia as Colombian National Police officers broke through his door. Body camera recordings reveal that he slipped through a balcony railing in an unsuccessful bid to escape while officers were gaining entry.
Rather than making a successful getaway, he lost his grip and fell to the ground below. The footage shows an officer peering over the edge and capturing the scene of Montan’s lifeless body on the pavement.
During the raid, at least five armed officers entered the property and apprehended several individuals. Contraband items, including a fragment of a grenade and a significant quantity of amphetamines valued at $9,550 (£7,110), were discovered hidden in the apartment.
Three other individuals believed to be associated with the same criminal group were also arrested at the scene – Luis Alberto Cabeza Calderon, Yonathan Samuel Urbina Rodriguez, and Daviannys del Jesus Moya Avila.
Rojas Montan, wanted internationally for aggravated kidnapping and linked to the Tren de Aragua gang originating in Venezuela, had been a fugitive since fleeing Chile in June 2024. Following his relocation to Colombia, he was allegedly involved in expanding the gang’s activities in the Aburra Valley, home to an estimated four million residents.
The operation that led to the raid in October, known as Operation Shadow 3, was a collaborative effort involving Colombian, Chilean, and Peruvian authorities, supported by the US Drug Enforcement Agency and Ameripol.
Authorities stated that the detained suspects were purportedly involved in the gang’s growth, overseeing synthetic drug distribution, extortion networks, and operations related to sexual exploitation.
