Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc have recently expressed their solidarity with Ferrari engineers and fans on Instagram. This gesture follows chairman John Elkann’s advice for them to concentrate on their driving rather than engaging in excessive discussions.
Ferrari had a mix of successes and setbacks in motorsport last weekend. While they secured both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships at the World Endurance Championship finale in Bahrain, the Brazilian Grand Prix turned out to be disastrous. Hamilton’s race was cut short when his front wing collided with Franco Colapinto’s Alpine, causing significant damage to his SF-25. Leclerc also faced misfortune, retiring from the race after being involved in an incident with Oscar Piastri and Kimi Antonelli.
As a result of the double non-finish, Ferrari now stands fourth in the World Championship standings, trailing Mercedes by 26 points and Red Bull by four. Elkann expressed his disappointment over the team’s performance, emphasizing the need for unity and a focus on driving rather than excessive talk.
In response to Elkann’s comments, both Hamilton and Leclerc indirectly addressed the situation on Instagram. Hamilton acknowledged the challenges faced in Brazil but affirmed his commitment to persevere, while Leclerc highlighted the team’s need for unity to overcome their current difficulties in the championship standings.
