The Canadian hockey drama series, “Heated Rivalry,” is amplifying its star power for the upcoming second season as it adds three new cast members to its lineup. The show, produced by Bell Media’s Crave streaming service, gained international acclaim in its initial six-episode run, securing a global audience after HBO picked it up for distribution in the U.S. and worldwide. The lead actors of the show, including Hudson Williams, Connor Storrie, and François Arnaud, experienced a significant career boost following the success of the first season.
The latest additions to the cast, announced recently, are notable figures in the entertainment industry. Milla Jovovich, known for her roles in the “Resident Evil” franchise and “The Fifth Element,” joins the series as a Ukrainian-American actress. Kevin Zegers, a native of Woodstock, Ont., recognized for his work in “Gossip Girl” and “Transamerica,” is another new addition. Additionally, Paul Gross, a prominent figure in Canadian film, television, and theatre with credits like “Due South” and “Men With Brooms,” has also been enlisted.
Based on the “Game Changers” book series by Nova Scotia author Rachel Reid, “Heated Rivalry” revolves around the clandestine relationship between two competitive hockey players, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. Paul Gross will portray the character of Roger Crowell, the hockey league commissioner, while Kevin Zegers takes on the role of Coach Wiebe, overseeing the Ottawa Centaurs team that Rozanov joins in the upcoming season. Milla Jovovich will play Dr. Galina Molchalina, a therapist supporting Rozanov in the series.
The new season will also feature returning actors from Season 1, including Robbie G.K., Sophie Nélisse, Christina Chang, and Dylan Walsh. In addition to the returning cast, the show has enlisted a diverse range of Canadian talent for Season 2. Names like Charlie Gillespie, Daniel Diemer, Emily Hampshire, and Priyanka have been added to the ensemble, promising an exciting continuation of the series.
With filming for the second season underway, fans can anticipate the premiere of “Heated Rivalry” on Crave in Spring 2027. The show has garnered significant acclaim, dominating the Canadian Screen Awards and setting the stage for another compelling season.
