“Jeffrey Epstein’s Manhattan Mansion Gets Makeover”

Published:

Jeffrey Epstein’s Manhattan mansion has recently undergone a significant renovation aimed at erasing any remnants of the convicted sex offender’s crimes. The townhouse, located near Central Park in New York, has maintained its exterior, except for the removal of a brass ‘JE’. However, the interior has been extensively redesigned to distance the property from its infamous former occupant.

City records reveal that a renovation costing $925,000 (£692,885) was completed last year by the new owner, former Goldman Sachs executive Michael Daffey. Daffey purchased the property for $51 million (£37,952,466) in 2021, significantly below the initial asking price of $88 million (£65,539,584).

The renovation project encompassed five floors of the townhouse, involving the demolition of walls to create a more open layout in the areas where Epstein conducted his illicit activities. Notably, a room referred to as “The Dungeon” by the late accuser Virginia Giuffre in her posthumously published book had its wall removed to connect Epstein’s bedroom to a massage chamber.

Giuffre described the room as a dark, intimidating space filled with extravagant and eerie decor, including black-lacquered cabinetry, blood-red carpets, taxidermy, and a provocative chess set. She detailed harrowing experiences of repeated abuse and torture at the hands of Epstein during her teenage years, involving various distressing scenarios.

Despite Giuffre’s tragic passing earlier this year, her memoir sheds light on the disturbing events that took place within Epstein’s mansion. The renovation efforts aimed to transform the property and erase any association with its dark past.
