“Lloyds Banking Group to Close 71 Branches in 2023”

Published:

Three major high street banks, Lloyds Bank, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland, all part of Lloyds Banking Group, have announced the closure of 71 branches next year due to the increasing trend of online banking usage. The closures, initially disclosed earlier this year, will affect 40 Lloyds branches, 14 Halifax locations, and 17 Bank of Scotland sites. Customers facing branch closures have alternative options, such as utilizing branches across any of the three banks for daily banking needs or locating nearby “banking hubs” in shared public spaces.

In response to the shifting banking habits, a spokesperson from Lloyds Banking Group emphasized the importance of digital solutions, citing that more than 21 million customers prefer managing their finances through apps. The group aims to offer a blend of digital convenience and personalized service by enabling customers to access banking services through mobile apps, branches of Lloyds, Halifax, or Bank of Scotland, Post Offices, and banking hubs, as well as enabling cash deposits at over 30,000 PayPoint locations.
