A Frontier Airlines Airbus A320 at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport faced evacuation after a passenger found a loaded gun magazine near seat 7A, leading to a swift response from Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Frontier Airlines, Homeland Security, and Police K-9 units.

Authorities, including the FBI, were alerted as the gun part, marked with initials “K H,” was discovered during boarding for a return flight to Cincinnati. The magazine, containing ten hollow point rounds, was swiftly removed, and passengers underwent additional screening before the flight resumed nearly three-and-a-half hours later.

Atlanta Police confirmed the incident, emphasizing the coordinated efforts with various agencies to ensure passenger safety. The aircraft was thoroughly searched, with no further concerning items found. Following the re-screening of all passengers, the flight departed safely, with no ongoing threats reported.

Local news outlets revealed the ongoing investigation to identify the owner of the gun. Passengers expressed shock at the unprecedented incident, with one stating it was a new experience amidst typical flight disruptions. Another passenger highlighted the relief felt after the potential threat was averted by the magazine’s removal.
