Luke Littler is on the verge of reclaiming a portion of his £1 million PDC World Darts Championship prize. The 18-year-old recently secured back-to-back world titles, emulating Gary Anderson’s feat. Littler’s latest victory came against Gian van Veen at Alexandra Palace, where he triumphed with a commanding 7-1 scoreline.
Having consistently reached the tournament finals for three consecutive years, Littler not only clinched the £1 million prize but also set a new milestone as the first player to do so. Despite the substantial prize increase from the previous year, UK tax laws will see Littler losing nearly half of his winnings to income tax, potentially amounting to around £450,000.
Additionally, National Insurance contributions will further reduce his net earnings, leaving Littler with an estimated tax bill of £470,000 following his second world championship victory. Despite this, Littler is gearing up for the Bahrain Darts Masters, commencing on January 15, offering him another opportunity to bolster his earnings.
His successful track record in darts includes a previous win in 2024 against Michael van Gerwen, securing him a £30,000 prize at the Bahrain Masters. Now returning as a 10-time PDC major title holder, Littler is focused on maintaining his winning streak. Looking ahead to upcoming competitions, he expressed his determination to clinch titles in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia back-to-back, showcasing his ambition to dominate the sport.
