“Marvel Star Simu Liu Ties the Knot in France”

Published:

Canadian actor Simu Liu, known for his role in Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” has recently married music industry executive Allison Hsu. The couple exchanged vows over the weekend, as confirmed by Liu’s publicist to CBC News. Reports by TMZ first highlighted the wedding festivities in France.

The duo publicly announced their engagement in May 2025 on social media during a trip to Paris, after officially dating since late 2022. Allison Hsu shared glimpses from wedding-related activities in Mexico and a summer excursion to Paris with Liu.

Liu and Hsu have been transparent about their relationship, frequently posting about each other on social media. In an interview with People magazine in 2023, Liu expressed his feelings, stating that he feels supported and cherished in their relationship.

Originally from China and raised in Toronto, Liu will reprise his role as Shang-Chi in the upcoming Marvel film “Avengers: Doomsday.” His portrayal of the Chinese superhero has propelled him to international stardom, following his success in the CBC comedy “Kim’s Convenience.”

Apart from his Marvel role, Liu has been involved in various projects, such as playing Ken in the popular film “Barbie,” lending his voice in the animated movie “In Your Dreams,” and starring in the spy series “The Copenhagen Test.” He also made his Broadway debut in the Tony-winning comedy “Oh, Mary!” earlier this year.

Liu recently discussed the need for more Asian representation in leading roles in Hollywood, highlighting the challenges posed by traditional and conservative mindsets within the industry.
