NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) have revealed intentions to shut down 46 mobile bank branches. These mobile banks, housed in vans or trucks and offering a banking alternative, are set to cease operations for the final time in January 2026. They cater to everyday banking needs like depositing money and cheques, as well as basic account inquiries.
A spokesperson representing NatWest Group, which oversees NatWest, RBS, and Ulster Bank, stated, “We are dedicated to establishing a sustainable branch network and are pleased to be the sole UK bank providing a cash-based mobile branch service to assist communities lacking easy access to banking services nationwide. Our network undergoes regular assessments to ensure optimal customer coverage. While the number of routes served will remain unchanged, a few stops will be eliminated from routes where there is duplication with a banking hub.”
In case your local bank branch closes and you require in-person assistance, any bank within the NatWest group can be utilized for routine services. For instance, NatWest clients can avail services at RBS branches, and vice versa. Additionally, the Post Office offers facilities for cash deposits and withdrawals, balance inquiries, and cheque deposits.
