American rapper Rick Ross, also known as William Roberts II, was taken into custody in Miami Beach on charges of battery related to an alleged domestic violence incident, as confirmed by local authorities. The charges against Ross include one felony count of battery by strangulation and one misdemeanor battery charge. After posting a cash bond, Ross was released from jail according to online court records.
According to reports, an unnamed woman informed local detectives that she was residing with Ross when, on August 28, he accused her of infidelity and physically assaulted her. The woman claimed that Ross struck her multiple times, choked her with her shirt collar, and forcefully pushed her against a wall. The incident was reported on Tuesday, leading to Ross surrendering himself at the police station on Thursday morning.
In an Instagram story shared from a car, Ross vehemently asserted his innocence, denouncing the accusations as “fabricated allegations.” Legal representatives for Ross have stated that he has pleaded not guilty to both charges. They emphasized that Ross urges his friends, fans, and the public not to preconceive the situation and to let the legal process proceed.
Ross gained prominence as a rapper based in Miami during the 2000s, achieving fame with his debut single “Hustlin'” in 2006 and later signing with Jay Z’s Def Jam Records label. His first album, “Port of Miami,” debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart. In 2008, he established his own label, Maybach Music Group, and signed artists such as Meek Mill and French Montana. An arraignment for the case has been scheduled for October 22.
