A spectator was escorted off the court by security personnel after approaching Jannik Sinner, the world No. 2 tennis player, at the Six Kings Slam tournament in Riyadh. Following a convincing 6-2, 6-3 win against Stefanos Tsitsipas in his first match of the event, Sinner was confronted by a young fan who seemed to be requesting his jacket after the match.
The fan engaged in a brief conversation with Sinner, gesturing towards his jacket multiple times. Although their discussion was not captured by microphones, Sinner appeared puzzled as the boy tapped his jacket and then pointed to himself.
Security swiftly intervened, removing the fan from the scene so that Sinner could leave the court without any further disturbance. Sinner had recently withdrawn from the Shanghai Masters due to challenging hot and humid conditions, where he was defending his title. Several players, including Sinner, struggled with the extreme weather during the tournament in Shanghai.
Upon arriving in Riyadh to defend his title at the Six Kings Slam, Sinner attributed his cramps in Shanghai to a mental aspect, mentioning that he had learned from the experience and was now feeling better prepared mentally. Despite the setback in Shanghai, Sinner showed resilience at the Six Kings Slam, defeating Tsitsipas and advancing to the semi-finals to face Novak Djokovic.
Reflecting on his upcoming match against Djokovic, Sinner acknowledged their familiarity with each other’s game and emphasized the importance of aggression in his gameplay, particularly during crucial moments. Sinner also noted the unique court conditions in Riyadh, emphasizing the bounce of the surface as a factor to consider during matches.
