In southern Manitoba, authorities are treating the death of a four-year-old girl and the severe injuries of two young children at a residence as suspicious, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). The Manitoba First Nations Police Service was alerted to a situation at a home in Long Plain First Nation when emergency responders discovered a child in distress with injuries on Sunday morning. Tragically, the four-year-old passed away at the residence.
The two other children, aged one and two, were transported to the hospital for medical care. Initially, one child was in critical condition, while the other was stable. Fortunately, both children are now in stable condition.
Due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding the four-year-old’s death and the significant injuries sustained by the other children, the RCMP has assumed control of the investigation. Supt. Rob Lasson, overseeing the RCMP major crime services in Manitoba, expressed deep concern over the incident and emphasized the community’s quest for clarity regarding the events at the household. Lasson assured the residents of Long Plain that the RCMP is collaborating closely with the Manitoba First Nations Police Service and community leaders to address the situation.
