James Bray gained attention after Raducanu acknowledged him following her match victory. During the game, Bray, donning an ‘Australia’ tank top, affectionately referred to Raducanu as ‘Raddo’. In response, Raducanu thanked him and extended an open invitation to attend her future matches.
Despite his newfound fame, Bray’s enthusiastic cheering at a subsequent match led to his removal from the Rod Laver Arena. Documenting the incident on Instagram, Bray shared that he was escorted out by police, receiving a 24-hour ban and a fine. He expressed sarcastic gratitude for being ejected as a devoted fan.
Following multiple warnings, Bray was escorted out by security due to disruptive behavior. Tennis Australia confirmed the incidents, stating that despite repeated warnings, Bray failed to adjust his conduct, prompting police intervention. Victoria Police reported that Bray was one of 21 individuals evicted from the event for various disruptive incidents.
Despite the incident, the Australian Open organizers praised the overall crowd behavior and looked forward to an exciting continuation of the tournament.
