A 13-year-old boy tragically passed away after falling off a cliff, where his devastated father was the first to discover him.
During a hike on Saturday, Kayleb Lynn Eddings slipped near the edge of Brewer Bluff and fell approximately 200 feet while with a friend.
Emergency personnel, including search-and-rescue teams, firefighters, and Survival Flight, were dispatched to the scene. Fire department members descended about 260 feet down the bluff while park rangers approached from the river below.
The boy, identified as Kayleb Lynn Eddings, was found unconscious by his father, Toby Eddings, who was one of the first to reach him. Tragically, Kayleb did not survive the fall, authorities confirmed.
Residing near the bluff in Searcy County, Arkansas, the teenager’s family is now grieving the loss of their beloved young one.
Park officials cautioned that the area near Buffalo National River, which spans 135 miles, can be rugged and steep, advising visitors to maintain a safe distance from cliff edges.
Kayleb’s family is mourning his loss and described him as a beacon of love, cherished by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. The obituary highlighted his affection for outdoor activities like riding his four-wheeler, socializing with friends, and hunting with his grandfather.
His loved ones are struggling to cope with the silence left by Kayleb’s absence, finding solace in nature and their faith during this difficult time.
In a separate incident, a 12-year-old boy lost his balance and fell off a cliff after slipping in a puddle near the edge.
Marion Tourgon, a French tourist, recounted the tragic event where young Zhihan Zhao accidentally met his demise at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland. Zhihan, who had recently arrived in Ireland with his family, fell to his death while out walking with his mother and friends along the Cliffs of Moher trail.
A witness at the scene detailed the heartbreaking moment when Zhihan lost his footing near the cliff’s edge, leading to his fatal fall. The post mortem report confirmed that Zhihan’s death was due to multiple traumatic injuries consistent with a fall from a height, ruling it as an accidental death.
