Published:

A tragic incident involving a police car colliding with a minivan has resulted in the loss of two young boys and critical injuries to their three sisters. The devastating crash occurred at an intersection in Baytown east of Houston, just after 7pm on Thursday, October 23. The on-duty Baytown Police Department officer, responding to an emergency call, was involved in the collision.

Initial investigations, based on in-car video footage and witness accounts, suggest that the police officer had the right of way with a green light at the intersection where the accident took place.

An update shared on the Baytown Police Facebook page confirmed the heartbreaking news that two siblings, aged 8 and 10, have tragically passed away due to injuries sustained in the crash. The other two siblings who were also in the vehicle during the collision are currently in critical condition at the hospital. The names of the children have not been disclosed out of respect for the family.

Chief John Stringer expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, emphasizing the department’s commitment to a thorough and transparent investigation in collaboration with external partners.

A GoFundMe page provided an update on the children’s conditions, revealing that the two boys peacefully passed away surrounded by family, with their organs being donated. The younger girls, aged 14 and 3, have been discharged from the hospital, while the 16-year-old is still undergoing treatment for her injuries.

Donations and support for the family can be made through the GoFundMe page linked in the article.
