Trump’s Fist-Pump Dance Wows Crowd in Malaysia

Published:

Donald Trump made a noteworthy entrance in Malaysia as he arrived in Southeast Asia to oversee the signing of a significant peace deal between Cambodia and Thailand. Upon landing at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, a crowd welcomed the 79-year-old President as he seemed eager to showcase his dance moves.

Trump’s signature ‘fist-pump’ dance, which gained popularity during his 2024 presidential campaign, once again became a social media sensation. A video posted on TikTok by Trump’s official campaign account invited viewers to describe his brief routine in just two words.

Describing the scene, Team Trump captioned, “Trump showcased a new version of the Trump dance in Malaysia. A must-watch!” As Malaysian performers engaged in a traditional dance, Trump stood before them, swaying his hips and raising his arms to pump his fists.

While some criticized Trump’s behavior, labeling it as lacking class, others praised him, particularly Cambodians who expressed gratitude for his role in the peace process. The visit marked Trump’s first official journey to the Asia-Pacific region since taking office, with upcoming stops in Tokyo, Japan, to meet the first female Prime Minister, Sanae Takaichi.

Subsequent to Japan, Trump’s schedule includes a visit to South Korea to meet President Lee Jae Myung and an anticipated meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss the Asia Pacific Economic Forum (Apec).

Questions arose from a video comparison in March suggesting that Trump might have learned his dance moves from his past association with Jeffrey Epstein. Footage from 1992 depicted Trump awkwardly dancing alongside Epstein and young women at Mar-A-Lago, showcasing a similar robotic shimmy that became a trademark of his campaign rallies.

Despite allegations and associations, Trump has consistently denied any misconduct during his connection with Epstein.
