A significant road in Coventry was closed off today after an unexploded bomb was found in Radford earlier in the day. Authorities responded to a report of a hand grenade discovered in a garden on Beake Avenue. Traffic was redirected as a large cordon was established near Chesholme Road. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (EOD) was called in around 11:15 am.
Following inspections, Coventry Police confirmed that the device was inert. Beake Avenue has since been reopened, and traffic is back to normal, according to West Midlands Roads. A spokesperson for Coventry Police stated that the suspected hand grenade was determined to be harmless after examination by an Army EOD team. The safety cordon has been removed.
In an update from WM Roads, it was announced that disruptions have been cleared, and traffic is now flowing as usual in the area.
