“Wichita Teacher Accused of Sex with Student”

Published:

A 30-year-old teacher named Nicole Hernandez, also known as Nikki Baird, is accused of engaging in sexual activities with a 17-year-old student multiple times, including in her Jeep. The incidents allegedly took place after Hernandez met the boy at a middle school in Kansas and later reconnected at Wichita North High School, where she developed a close relationship with the teen, reportedly isolating him from others.

According to an affidavit, Hernandez was said to have engaged in inappropriate behavior with the student, including touching and hugging, before the sexual relationship began in early 2024. She allegedly disclosed personal struggles in her marriage to the victim and exchanged affectionate messages, expressing a desire to be with him.

The pair began meeting outside of school, even receiving parental approval for outings. During one such outing to an arts center, Hernandez reportedly made advances towards the teen, including asking if he wanted her to kiss him. The relationship escalated, with the student claiming Hernandez encouraged physical contact and pressured him into intimate encounters.

As the student’s graduation approached, Hernandez allegedly made further advances, inviting him into her office and coercing him into sexual activities. On graduation night, she purportedly pressured the teen into engaging in sexual activity in her car, using manipulative tactics to ensure his compliance.

After realizing the inappropriate nature of their relationship, the student cut off contact with Hernandez and shared evidence, including nude photos and handwritten notes, with his family and authorities. Hernandez was subsequently arrested on May 22 and is set to appear in court on December 19 to face the charges against her.
