“Woman’s Death in Utah Leads to Husband’s Murder Conviction”

Published:

Police were met with a disturbing scene after receiving a call from Dave Meyer in Roy, Utah, stating that he had shot his wife, Suzanne Meyer. Arriving at the residence on January 21, 2023, officers found Suzanne deceased on the bed, with signs indicating she had been kneeling. She had succumbed to a single gunshot wound, accompanied by a strong smell of decay.

Dave Meyer explained to authorities that Suzanne, once a vibrant and active individual, had been left in chronic pain following a cycling accident in Hawaii. The incident had left her with severe spinal injuries, leading to constant pain and reliance on medication. Meyer claimed that Suzanne had repeatedly requested him to end her suffering, prompting him to take her life to alleviate her pain.

However, conflicting testimonies emerged, painting a different picture. Suzanne’s sister, Sandy, refuted Meyer’s claims, stating that Suzanne did not want to die and had future plans. Sandy further alleged that Meyer had coerced Suzanne into engaging in sexual activities with others and had a tumultuous relationship with her.

Additional evidence from a witness at Meyer’s gym revealed his troubled relationship with his wife and his contemplation of killing her. This witness disclosed that Meyer had confided in her about his intentions to harm Suzanne. In light of this evidence, Dave Meyer admitted guilt to murder in March 2023 as part of a plea deal, leading to his sentencing to 15 years to life in prison on May 10, 2024, by Judge Joseph Bean at the second district court in Ogden, Utah.

Dave Meyer is currently serving his sentence at the Utah State Prison.
