“Husband Pushes Pregnant Wife off Cliff for Insurance Money”

Published:

A man, Hakan Aysal, is currently incarcerated for pushing his pregnant wife, Semra Aysal, off a 1,000-foot cliff at Butterfly Valley in Mugla, Turkey. The court revealed that the victim, who was seven months pregnant, was tragically killed by her husband in a scheme to benefit from a life insurance policy he had obtained.

Aysal deceitfully led his wife, who had a fear of heights, to the cliff’s edge under the pretense of taking a selfie before callously pushing her over. The couple spent hours on the slope before the husband committed the act when there were no witnesses around.

The incident raised suspicions when photos of the couple circulated in the media, prompting a holidaymaker’s memory. A chilling video captured Aysal and his wife near the cliff’s edge before the fatal push. Following Semra’s death, Aysal attempted to claim a substantial insurance payout and was discovered taking out loans in his wife’s name.

Aysal faced an indictment for “premeditated murder,” with the court acknowledging his plan to profit from his wife’s demise through a hefty insurance policy. He was sentenced to a minimum of 30 years in prison. Witnesses described Aysal as composed and even failed to participate in the search for his wife’s body after flagging down help.

Despite his imprisonment, Aysal sought legal action against numerous individuals who allegedly insulted him online. In 2022, he pursued legal cases against 200 people for online defamation, aiming to receive compensation for each offense.
