Trainer-Brother Duo Stuns in Boodles Florida Pearl Chase

Published:

A small-scale trainer, managing just two horses, achieved a significant victory alongside his jockey brother as Oscars Brother triumphed in the Boodles Florida Pearl Novice Chase at Punchestown. Despite facing competition from renowned stables like Gordon Elliott and Henry de Bromhead, as well as the presence of Rocky’s Diamond, the fourth-place finisher in the 2025 Stayers’ Hurdle, Connor King outperformed them all with Oscars Brother, skillfully guided by his brother Daniel.

Maintaining a prominent position throughout the race, Oscars Brother, the 7-4 favorite, showcased impeccable jumping skills and finished three lengths ahead of Koktail Divin from De Bromhead’s yard. Prior to this three-mile race on challenging ground at Punchestown, Oscars Brother had prepared in a novice chase at Galway.

The duo now anticipates the possibility of having a Grade One caliber horse in their stable, which currently houses only one other racehorse in training. Daniel expressed his delight at winning for his brother, praising the horse’s quality and their teamwork. Looking ahead, Connor, a former jockey, hinted at a potential entry for Oscars Brother in the Grade One Faugheen Novices’ Chase at Limerick during the festive season, emphasizing the horse’s successful transition from hurdles to chasing.

Reflecting on their achievement, Connor recalled considering the same race last year with just three runners and aiming for it, highlighting the progress Oscars Brother has made.
