Olympic gold medalist Jessica Ennis-Hill is set to join Kevin Sinfield in Sheffield for his ongoing initiative to raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Ennis-Hill, a resident of Sheffield, will be running alongside Sinfield on Thursday as part of the ‘7 in 7 Together’ challenge’s fourth leg.
Sinfield, who commenced this latest challenge on Monday, aims to complete an ultra marathon each day for a week. This marks Sinfield’s sixth consecutive annual endeavor in support of MND charities, having amassed over £10 million to date. The funds have contributed to the establishment of a pioneering center in Leeds, the first of its kind in the United Kingdom.
The former England and Leeds Rhinos star initiated these challenges following the MND diagnosis of his ex-teammate and close friend, Rob Burrow. Sinfield’s remarkable dedication has garnered global acclaim, and Ennis-Hill’s participation is anticipated to significantly boost MND awareness.
Ennis-Hill, renowned for her heptathlon Olympic triumph in 2012 and three-time world championship titles, has transitioned into a successful media career since retiring from athletics in 2016. She serves as a patron for various charities, including the Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Barrie Wells’ sports foundation.
Sinfield remains resolute in his quest to find a cure for MND. Recent news of former England World Cup winner Lewis Moody’s MND diagnosis emphasized the ongoing importance of advocacy efforts. Moody is planning fundraising events, including a dinner in April and a charity bike ride in 2026.
Following the Sheffield leg of the challenge, Sinfield will proceed to Cumbria, Scotland, and conclude in Leeds on Sunday. For more information on the challenge, visit https://www.therhinos.co.uk/the-club/sinfield-together-2025.
