“Anthony Joshua Returns to Training After Tragic Accident”

Published:

Eddie Hearn has given an update on Anthony Joshua, who has returned to training at the gym following a tragic car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two close friends and team members, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami.

Despite the harrowing incident, Joshua, aged 36, sustained only minor injuries after narrowly escaping death by changing seats before the journey. Recently, the former two-time heavyweight champion was seen back in action at a gym in Dubai, putting on his gloves again.

Hearn, Joshua’s longstanding promoter with Matchroom Boxing, met with Joshua and shared a post on Instagram expressing admiration for Joshua’s resilience and strength. Hearn mentioned that while Joshua is still grieving the loss, he appreciates the support and love extended to him in this challenging time.

The future of Joshua’s boxing career remains uncertain post-accident. Hearn previously indicated that Joshua would take a significant break from the sport, emphasizing the need for Joshua to have the time and space to heal and make decisions at his own pace.

Joshua has not addressed the ongoing speculation about his boxing future yet. In a heartfelt tribute on social media, he thanked everyone for their support and acknowledged the special bond he shared with his late friends, expressing gratitude for their presence in his life.

Legal proceedings against the driver, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, responsible for the accident will resume on Tuesday. Kayode faces charges related to causing death by dangerous driving, driving without due care, and driving without a valid driver’s license.
