Three security personnel at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg have been accused of assault following a serious injury to a Winnipeg Sea Bears player earlier this month, as reported by the police. Teddy Allen was hospitalized after an altercation at the nightclub during the early hours of August 3, according to statements from the Canadian Elite Basketball League team. The individuals, aged 35, 37, and 58, who were employed at the venue, were apprehended on Wednesday and charged with assault causing bodily harm, as per a police news release on Thursday. They were subsequently released on conditions.
Although the nightclub’s name was not disclosed by the authorities, it was revealed to be located on Main Street, between Portage and William avenues. Allen has undergone medical examinations, received a medical report, and is presently recovering at home, as indicated in a written statement provided by the team on Thursday. In response to the incident, Allen remarked that such an assault should never occur to anyone under any circumstances. He further expressed his resilience by stating, “The thing about my life is that when I’ve been knocked down, I get back up, which is exactly what I’m going to do now.”
