David Malukas set the pace during practice at the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy event in Markham. Malukas recorded a time of 1:14.194 in the second practice session of the day, with qualifying scheduled for later in the evening.
Alex Palou secured the second-fastest time with a 1:14.560 lap, followed by Dennis Hauger in third place with a time of 1:14.592 on the Markham downtown road course.
Due to incomplete course construction and pending safety inspections, the organizers were forced to cancel the initial day of track sessions.
This year marks the first time that Markham is hosting the race, previously held at Toronto’s Exhibition Place since its inception in 1986.
Earlier in the day, Palou had topped the timesheets in the first practice session, clocking in at 1:14.9915.
